After selling over one million PS4s within the 24 hours of launch, Sony has now revealed new sales numbers for the new generation console. The company has now sold 2.1 million PS4 consoles across the world as of December 1. The PS4 was launched in the US on November 15, which means this landmark has been reached in little over a fortnight.

Sony Computer Entertainment President and Group CEO Andrew House released a statement saying “PS4 delivered the best launch in PlayStation history". He further said that the "demand remains incredibly strong and continues to overwhelm the supply worldwide."

In August, the company had announced it received more than 1 million preorders worldwide. And on the first day of the launch, more that $400 million worth of PS4 business was raked in from just North America.

However, it hasn’t been a smooth ride for Sony. Within a week after the launch of the PlayStation 4, a small percentage of owners have been complaining about issues with the console being dead-on-arrival. The company had acknowledged the issue stating that it has affected less than one percent of the console units and would be offering replacements. Its arch rival Microsoft, who is yet to declare its sales figures, also faced drive issues with its newly launched Xbox One console.
